Jake Harris carried out his PhD with Prof Sir David Baulcombe at the University of Cambridge, focusing on artificial evolution of plant immunity. As an EMBO Long-Term Fellow, Jake joined Prof Steven Jacobsen at UCLA for postdoc, investigating fundamental mechanisms in epigenetics. In 2021, Jake returned to Cambridge as a Royal Society University Research Fellow to investigate the role of chromatin in transcriptional memory and priming, and to develop tools for epigenome engineering to improve crop performance. Jake is now an Associate Professor and has attracted national and international funding to support his research, including from ARIA and ERC.
